Social Impact (SI) is committed to building a people-centered organization that is focused on cultivating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture that prioritizes the individual contributions and belonging of all. We believe that such a culture will make us better and more effective in achieving our mission to advance development effectiveness. Our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEI&B) policy, along with our company-wide DEI&B strategic objectives, serve to reinforce the commitment, goals, and guidance that will enhance and support DEI&B at Social Impact.
Social Impact’s main goals are as follows:
- Diversity: Identify, Attract, Engage and Retain diverse talent
- Equity: Ensure transparency and equitable treatment of all in our people policies and communication practices
- Inclusion: Establish employee resource groups, create professional development practices, and utilize HR metric data to inform inclusive change and progress
- Belonging: Enable an environment where our collective diversity is valued and all SI staff feel welcome and accepted as they are
SI has always strived to go beyond what is expected and forge a new path in the international development sector, and our commitment encapsulates our overall goal to promote and prioritize DEI&B both in our organization as well as in our sector. In 2021 SI led an initiative to develop the first ever benchmarking of DEI in the international development and humanitarian assistance sector. BRIDGE (Benchmarking Race Inclusion and Diversity in Global Engagement) was a landmark study that documented the diversity gaps within our sector and has been widely used at the organizational and sectoral level to drive change. SI also became a founding member of the Coalition for Racial & Ethnic Equity in Development (CREED), which is a collective of U.S.-based international development and humanitarian assistance organizations committed to building racial and ethnic equity (REE). We have made the pledge to advance racial and ethnic diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging within our own organizations’ policies, systems, and culture in keeping with attainable and measurable goals and work to instill REE in international development.
