Pat Hanscom co-founded Social Impact in 1996 to meet a growing need in the international development sector for services to support development effectiveness. She was integral to creating a company that focuses on results-based approaches to empower positive change with clients around the globe.
Pat served as Executive Vice President until 2015. During her tenure she was instrumental in developing SI’s initial organizational structure, operational systems and procedures, auditable financial systems, and establishing SI’s first field offices. Pat facilitated SI’s initial work related to gender and transition countries. She continues to be an informal advisor to SI.
Prior to founding the company, Pat served for ten years as a Deputy Director in the Politico-Military Affairs Bureau at the State Department. In this capacity, she led international security and arms control negotiations, including in the areas of conventional weapons, chemical weapons, nuclear test ban, and anti-personnel landmines.
Pat holds a Masters Degree in Public Policy the JFK School of Government at Harvard University. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening and hiking.
