Basab Dasgupta is a Technical Director of Impact Evaluation at Social Impact Inc. After working 12 years in the World Bank, Basab joined Social Impact in 2016. At SI he leads and participates in numerous evaluations including looking at youth activities in the Dominican Republic, youth potential in Ethiopia, girls and poverty in Somalia, the Honduras MCC Threshold program.
Basab has worked in more than 15 countries providing technical assistance, implementing a variety of evaluation methods and supporting advisory and analytical works. He has professional experience in analytical policy research, designing and working on Impact Evaluation in international development, and applied econometrics. He has worked on poverty and inequality; infrastructure and service deliveries in health education, water, housing sectors; urbanization; social protection and labor.
Basab also spent six years in the National Centre for Agricultural Economics and Policy Research (NCAP-ICAR), IFPRI and in Indian Institute of Management, in India. Basab has published in several referred journals, presented in academic and public policy conferences and served as referee for World Development (Elsevier’s) and Applied Economics (Routledge).
Basab has a PhD in Economics from the University of Connecticut and M.Phil from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India.
